Roberts caught 21 passes for 271 yards and two touchdowns for the Ravens in 2019. He was also a committed blocker, which proved to be a huge benefit in the Ravens’ run-first offense. Roberts was often criticized for his drops though. His most infamous one came in Baltimore’s playoff game against the Titans, in which he dropped a deep pass thrown right into his hands by Lamar Jackson.
Roberts joined the Ravens in 2019 after being cut by the Oakland Raiders. Many believed that the Ravens would make an offer to Roberts in an attempt to keep him, but even if that happened, the 29-year-old has elected to sign with the Panthers.
The Ravens are expected to acquire a new wide receiver sometime this offseason, whether that be in free agency or in the draft.
Baltimore has a decision to make with another receiver on the roster: Chris Moore. Moore joined the Ravens in 2016 after being drafted in the fourth round of the draft. The former Cincinnati Bearcat has been decent on special teams for the Ravens but has not yet improved as a wide receiver. Time is running out for Moore, and Baltimore may part ways with him in 2020. He is currently a free agent.
Roberts if the first of Baltimore’s unrestricted free agents to sign with another team. The rest of the free-agent class includes WR Chris Moore, OL Hroniss Grasu, DT Michael Pierce, DT Domata Peko, ILB Patrick Onwuasor, ILB Josh Bynes, OLB Pernell McPhee, CB Jimmy Smith, S Anthony Levine, and DB/ST Brynden Trawick. The Ravens are expected to lose Michael Pierce, and Patrick Onwuasor, but are also working to re-sign Josh Bynes, Pernell McPhee, and Anthony Levine per reports.
