A few days ago, it was reported that Dennis Pitta was asked by the Ravens for a second straight year to restructure his contract in order to benifit the Ravens and free up some more cap space. Pitta again agreed to do so, according to sources. There are no details regarding the new contract Pitta is set to be on yet, but last year Pitta gave up $4 million, while earning back $3 million in incentives. The Ravens were considering cutting Dennis Pitta, but now they won’t have to.
Pitta was one of the most productive tight ends last season, totaling for 86 receptions, 729 yards, and 2 touchdowns. This deal will help open up the Ravens salary cap situation, and Ozzie Newsome must be very thankful to have a player like Pitta who is willing to sacrifice his own gain for the good of the team. Joe Flacco is also probably very happy to have his favorite target back. We will update this article once contract details surface.
